Under direct supervision, you will perform all medical record coding activities, assign appropriate diagnostic and procedure codes, support the US Oncology Compliance Program including its Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
You will abstract clinical and demographic data from medical records, assign ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes per guidelines, identify principal and secondary diagnoses with minimal error, and code with a target accuracy of 97%. Responsibilities also include requesting missing diagnoses from physicians, updating coding procedures, coordinating medical information with staff, and maintaining confidentiality of medical records.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a course in medical record technology.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of medical coding experience.
