About the Role
Our client, a leading healthcare organization, is seeking a Specialty Coder Sr – Pulmonology to support physician coding operations in a fully remote capacity.
This role is focused on physician coding only and requires strong expertise in specialty coding for high-dollar and complex account types. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and/or CPT coding, along with a strong commitment to coding accuracy, compliance, and collaboration across clinical and health information management teams.
What You'll Do
- Perform specialty physician coding with a focus on pulmonology
- Apply coding expertise to designated inpatient or outpatient high-dollar and specialty account types
- Maintain current, accurate, and high-quality coding using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT
- Abstract and enter data accurately into appropriate electronic medical record systems
- Verify patient dispositions and physician data in accordance with official coding and reporting guidelines
- Follow Official ICD-10-CM/PCS Guidelines for Coding and Reporting and AMA CPT Guidelines
- Maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% or better
- Partner cross-functionally with HIM, Clinical Documentation Specialists, and other internal departments
What We're Looking For
- At least 2 years of coding experience
- Strong experience in physician coding only
- Proven expertise with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and/or CPT coding
- Ability to maintain a 95%+ coding accuracy rate
- Experience abstracting data into electronic medical record systems
- Strong understanding of official coding guidelines and reporting standards
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills across clinical and administrative teams
- Profile must include online certification verification or it will be rejected
Preferred Skills
- CPC certification
- EPIC experience
- Experience handling high-dollar or specialty account types
- Background working with HIM and Clinical Documentation Improvement teams
