Insight Global is seeking a highly skilled Inpatient DRG Coding Specialist to provide advanced skills for proper coding of diagnoses and procedures and optimal DRG assignment after thorough review and analysis.
Key responsibilities include selecting records from EPIC WQ by priority, reviewing all federally insured and other patient discharge encounters for accurate diagnosis and procedure coding, correctly assigning ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes using EPIC Encoder, identifying responsible staff and resident physicians, protecting patient confidentiality, attending section meetings and office in-services, participating in coding education sessions, maintaining current coding knowledge through continuing education and literature review, obtaining required CEUs for certification, conducting coding-related charge reviews and claim edits daily to ensure timely and accurate billing, and adhering to productivity, quality, coding compliance, and federal regulations standards.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a DRG Coder
- High school Diploma or GED
- Experience coding in level I trauma centers or critical care centers
- Certification required: CCS, RHIA, or RHIT
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Proficient in inpatient coding with ability to audit and educate providers and coders
Nice to have:
- Experience communicating, training, and educating providers
- Knowledge of coding guidelines, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, medical terminology, and medical abbreviations
