Working under the supervision of the Central Billing Department Supervisors, you will share the responsibilities of being accessible to physicians, staff, and patients regarding billing questions. Ensure all billing functions are completed timely and develop billing goals. Responsible for accurately coding provider’s outpatient and inpatient visits based on documentation provided and abstracting complete patient care data to ensure optimum and timely reimbursement. Apply specialized knowledge of coding and medical terminology according to all coding guidelines.

Minimum of 1-2 years medical billing experience in charge, payment or follow-up work. Minimum of 1-2 years coding experience in primary care, medical and surgical specialties or hold CPC, CCS-P coding certifications. Excellent written and oral communication skills with attention to detail, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Competency with ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines. Ability to problem-solve complicated claims and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, medical terminology, HCC and CAT II coding. Experienced in ICD-10 CM and CPT coding systems, guidelines, conventions, Coding Clinic, and CPT Assistant.

Preferred: Computer proficiency, strong interpersonal communication, flexible and motivated to keep abreast of changing regulations and coding updates, ability to interact with coworkers and physicians to resolve coding, documentation, and workflow issues.

High school diploma or equivalent required. CPC or AHIMA coding certification required.

Essential functions include organizing and coding patient medical records for multispecialty providers, acting as liaison in billing and claims processes, preparing claims, correcting rejected/denied claims and coding errors, tracking and collecting payments from third party payers, collaborating with team to resolve complicated claims, communicating effectively with leadership on claim delays, and handling confidential information in compliance with HIPAA and billing office policies.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • 1-2 years medical billing experience
  • 1-2 years coding experience for primary care, medical and surgical specialties or CPC/CCS-P certified

  • Problem-solving skills for complicated claims
  • Time management and multitasking abilities
