You will have the flexibility to telecommute from anywhere within the U.S. while taking on challenging assignments.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Identifying appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes for professional multispecialty E/M and surgical procedural services while adhering to official coding guidelines and client-specific guidelines.
  • Applying coding knowledge to analyze and correct CCI edits and medical necessity edits.
  • Abstracting additional data elements during chart review as needed.
  • Adhering to ethical coding standards set by AAPC and/or AHIMA.
  • Maintaining required levels of coding quality and productivity as established by Optum360.
  • Providing documentation feedback to providers and querying physicians when appropriate.
  • Participating in coding department meetings and educational events.
  • Reviewing and maintaining records of charts coded, held, or missing.

Required qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Professional CPC coder certification with credentialing from AHIMA and/or AAPC, maintained annually.
  • Minimum 2 years of coding experience, specifically in E/M and surgical coding.
  • Compliance with UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy for all telecommuting employees.

Salary is based on factors including local labor markets, education, experience, and certifications. The hourly pay for this role ranges from $20.38 to $36.44 based on full-time employment.
