Medical Coder

We are seeking a Certified Professional Coder (CPC or CPC-A) to join our Medical Billing team. Whether you are an experienced coder or an Apprentice ready to grow, this is an exciting opportunity to build your skills within a large, diverse, multi-specialty organization. We are willing to train the right candidate.

Remote and hybrid work opportunities available.

You will:

• Review charge tickets, progress notes, and operative reports to assign accurate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes
• Analyze and correct denied claims requiring coding review across multiple specialties
• Collaborate with billing and coding teams to ensure clean claims and timely reimbursement
• Participate in month-end closing processes, including required blackout periods (extended hours or weekend shifts may be required during the last week of the month)
• Maintain required annual AAPC CEUs
• Assist with special projects as assigned

You should have:

• Active Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Professional Coder – Apprentice (CPC-A) credential
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Team player with a positive, professional attitude
• Self-motivated and eager to learn and grow
• General knowledge of standard office equipment and computer systems
• Prior medical office experience is a plus

Specialties you will support include Hospitalist Medicine, Cardiology, Pulmonary & Critical Care, Sleep Medicine, Endocrinology, Podiatry, OB/GYN, Colon & Rectal Surgery, Urgent Care, Dermatology, ENT, and more.

Locations: Chesapeake, VA and Virginia Beach, VA.
