As a medical coder on our team, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our claims process runs smoothly and efficiently for our customers. Attention to detail is invaluable as you review and enter medical billing information, ensure billing codes correspond with and support medical records, and apply applicable fee schedules and coding rules while making appropriate adjustments. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service and interpersonal skills, which you’ll rely on while assisting medical representatives with coding questions and answering calls from customers, providers, billing offices, and attorneys.

This is a hybrid role reporting to an office about four days per month for meetings, training, and collaboration, with coaching from a supportive team. You may work more days onsite if preferred. You must reside within 30 miles of Progressive's Everett, WA; Federal Way, WA; or Tigard, OR claims offices.

Duties:

• Review health insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) on excess claims to ensure proper payment
• Ensure Assignment of Benefits (AOB) has been submitted to providers (where applicable)
• Provide timely bill processing per state guidelines

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• One year of medical coding experience or coding certification

Preferred Skills:

• Strong data entry and telephone skills
• Knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, coding rules, and local statutes
• Proficiency with internet use
• Must obtain and maintain required state licenses

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm

Compensation:

• $24.03 to $26.68 per hour
• Gainshare annual cash incentive up to 16% of eligible earnings based on company performance
