Reno Orthopedic Center is seeking a Medical Coding Specialist to join their Vascular Department at the main location (555 N Arlington Ave, Reno, NV). This onsite role is responsible for accurate, high-volume medical and surgical coding, same-day charge entries, and compliant billing to support efficient patient care.
The Medical Coding Specialist will review and assign CPT and ICD-10 codes based on documented visits and procedures, maintain same-day charge entries, document chart or claim corrections, and keep error rates within standards. The role involves collaboration with clinical staff to clarify documentation, update insurance and demographic information, audit insurance denials, and support clean claims and timely reimbursement. Additionally, for surgical cases, responsibilities may include communicating with vendors regarding implants, managing inventory and purchase orders, and entering related charges into the practice management system to ensure accurate and compliant billing.

- High School Diploma or GED required
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes as applied to patient charts and claims
- Minimum of one year experience in customer service duties
- Effective and professional communication skills with employees, outside entities, and customers
- Ability to deescalate tense or sensitive conversations
- Attention to detail with error checking to ensure accuracy
