SNA International seeks a bright, collaborative Medical Coder with a strong work ethic and experience with medical mortality coding to join the team at Armed Forces Medical Examiner’s System in Dover, DE.
The team works towards building a safe and just world by empowering organizations in forensics, biometrics, and identity intelligence.
This is a 100% on-site position.
Responsibilities include assisting medical examiners with mortality classification of autopsy reports, providing auditing, adjudication, and medical mortality coding oversight, retrieving death data on decedents under AFMES jurisdiction, coding for individual injuries and causes of death, performing auditing and oversight from 1998 cases to present, developing standard operating procedures for coding and quality control within AFMES, providing coding expertise using ICD-10 for primary, secondary, tertiary codes of death causes, and generating and maintaining a data dictionary for variables and codes not in ICD-10.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience plus 5 years of medical mortality AIS coding experience
- Desired knowledge in filing techniques, administrative typing, preparing and editing documentation using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Windows
- Experience in transcription, data entry, and preparing management support documentation
- Must be U.S. citizen able to pass NAC-I Security Background Investigation
