Arizona Priority Care (AZPC) is an Integrated Provider Network focused on providing whole-person care to Senior and Medicaid populations through advanced value-based models. The network includes over 6,000 healthcare providers, including primary and specialty care physicians, hospitals, and ancillary providers. The HCC Coder I role involves identifying and reporting all HCC diagnoses from outpatient and inpatient charts. The position requires high organization, teamwork, and the ability to understand and execute written and verbal directions quickly.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze provider documentation to ensure complete legal medical records.
- Conduct comprehensive outpatient and inpatient chart reviews for documentation adequacy to identify all appropriate coding based on CMS HCC categories.
- Follow ICD-10-CM coding and reporting guidelines per AZPC coding policies.
- Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills to overcome barriers in receiving and validating accurate HCC data.
- Complete data entry and documentation of validated ICD-10 codes.
- Participate in process and quality improvement initiatives.
- Manage assigned coding projects ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Stay informed on governmental medical and legal coding and compliance issues.
- Attend required seminars and in-service trainings to remain current on coding issues.
- Share coding knowledge with management and other staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current Coding Certification through AHIMA or AAPC required.
- One year experience with ICD-9/ICD-10 and CPT preferred.
- Training in Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Pathophysiology preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and computer competency.
The position requires full-time in-office presence for the first 60 days with a hybrid schedule available afterward.
Compensation: The compensation range is $23-$26 per hour.
