The Medical Coder reviews and assigns diagnostic and procedure codes to patient records for reimbursement and data purposes, following state and federal regulations. You will integrate company values into daily practice.
This full-time position works day shifts.
Responsibilities include:
- Assign codes using ICD-10-CM with 95% accuracy, ensuring codes are correct and sequenced per government and insurance regulations.
- Review patient charts and documents for accuracy; identify discrepancies and follow up with providers as needed.
- Query physicians for clarification and diagnostic details for coding accuracy and specificity.
- Stay current on coding procedures and legislative changes.
- Comply with HIPAA to protect patient confidentiality.
Requirements:
- 3 years medical coding experience or coding certification (AHIMA or AAPC) required.
- Rehabilitation coding experience preferred.
- Associate's degree in related field preferred.
