The Remote Hospital Inpatient Coder reviews clinical documentation and diagnostic results to extract data and apply appropriate ICD-10 and PCS Diagnosis codes for coding, billing, reporting, research, and regulatory compliance. The coder works under a coding manager and must accurately code conditions and procedures as documented and in accordance with official guidelines. This position is 100% remote.
Responsibilities include performing quality inpatient hospital coding (Medicare/Non-Medicare, surgical, medical, cardiac, maternity, trauma cases), maintaining knowledge of ICD-10 PCS and regulations, ensuring all charted services are coded with appropriate ICD-10/PCS codes, achieving 95% coding accuracy, maintaining productivity standards (2 inpatient charts per hour), following facility policies, working pending and review queues, querying physicians for ambiguous or incomplete documentation, following query and CDI reconciliation processes, correcting rebills, collaborating with quality staff, responding to coding/billing inquiries within 8 hours, coding all charts in queue within 24 hours, and maintaining communication and professionalism.

- 5+ years experience coding inpatient records
- 3+ years ICD-10 and PCS coding experience
- Credential required: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CIC, or CPC
Preferred:
- Epic system experience
