About Duke Health's Patient Revenue Management Organization: This is Duke Health's fully integrated, centralized revenue cycle organization supporting scheduling, registration, coding, billing, and other revenue functions.

This position is 100% remote with residency required in NC, VA, SC, TN, FL, or TX.

Sign-on bonus of $10,000 paid in 4 equal installments over 24 months.

Responsibilities include coordinating/reviewing work of subordinate coders, assisting with training and continuing education, coding medical records using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 conventions, ensuring specificity, accuracy, and optimal reimbursement, auditing work quality and quantity, consulting with physicians to educate on coding practices, and maintaining knowledge of medical terminology and coding regulations.

Requires ability to abstract and compile data for accurate DRG/APC assignments and optimal reimbursement.

Knowledge and skills: Advanced ICD-10-CM & CPT-4 coding, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, DRG/APC reimbursement knowledge, coding software proficiency, effective communication, and data entry skills.

Education: High school diploma required.

Experience/Certification: RHIA or RHIT (no experience required), CCS (1 year coding experience), CPC or HCS-D (2 years coding experience).

Must hold current certification: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, HCS-D or Homecare Coding certification.
