Inpatient Corporate Coder

The Inpatient Corporate Coder functions under the direction of the Health Information Corporate Coding Manager and is responsible for accurate coding and abstracting clinical information from medical records for Tenet facilities. The role ensures coding data quality, integrity, and productivity, assists with quality chart reviews, trains new coders, and participates in coding projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Accurately code and abstract patient health documentation.
  • Review flagged cases using CARDS and RevInt for coding accuracy.
  • Assist in coding quality audits and second-level reviews.
  • Attend coding education sessions and maintain coding credentials.

Required qualifications:

  • Associate or higher degree in Health Information Management.
  • Completion of an AHIMA certified program and respective credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS preferred).
  • 1-3 years inpatient coding experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and electronic medical records.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or higher in Health Information Management.
  • 3+ years inpatient coding experience in a large health system.

A coding proficiency assessment will be administered.

Compensation ranges from $26.40 to $39.00 per hour, dependent on location and experience. Position may offer signing bonus subject to employment status.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Associate or higher degree in Health Information Management.
  • AHIMA certification (RHIA, RHIT, CCS preferred).
  • 1-3 years inpatient coding experience (3+ years preferred).
  • Skilled in MS Office and electronic medical records.
  • Preferably experience in a large, complex health system.
  • Successful completion of a coding proficiency assessment.
