The Department of Health Information Management is seeking a full-time Inpatient Coder. Reporting to the Coding Manager and the Director of Health Information Management, responsibilities include:

Abstract clinical information from medical records and assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, or CPT codes according to established procedures.
Maintain optimal coding standards ensuring uniformity for compliance and reimbursement.
Select accurate and descriptive codes from the appropriate classification system.
Ensure confidentiality of patient medical record data.
Analyze medical record information to ensure appropriate code usage.
Query physicians for appropriate documentation.
Collaborate with department and hospital staff.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

RHIA, RHIT, or CCS coding certification.
Over 1 year in a supervisory or administrator capacity.
Ability to make coding decisions using established guidelines.
Self-starter capable of working independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science Degree with related Health Information Management experience.
3-5 years direct coding experience in an acute care setting.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Salary Grade/Rank: SL-2

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
