Delta Health Center, Inc. (DHC) is the first Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC) in the United States, located in historic Bolivar County, Mississippi. DHC provides primary health care for vulnerable populations from newborns to the elderly, supporting those with chronic health problems and promoting health in the community.

As a Certified Professional Coder, you will play a critical role supporting physicians and clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation and coding, contributing to the highest quality of patient care.

Primary responsibilities include analyzing medical record documentation for accurate ICD10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding; consulting with clinical providers for coding clarifications; conducting reviews of documentation and coding; providing feedback to staff based on coding trends; collaborating on corrective action plans; developing training materials; responding promptly to coding questions; monitoring coding compliance activities; addressing coding review requests related to patient complaints, denials, or incorrect coding; and tracking insurance rejections and denials related to coding discrepancies.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Proficiency in medical coding systems: ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS.
  • Knowledge of patient eligibility, payer class, insurance type, and subscriber requirements for claim validation and billing.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with providers, staff, and insurance representatives.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with insurance guidelines and compliance standards.
  • Certification as an AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC or CPC-A) required.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in medical coding.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree or advanced education preferred.
  • Must pass standard background check.
