The Medical Coder III is a senior-level position responsible for accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures in compliance with coding guidelines and regulations, ensuring financial accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Position Highlights:
- Hybrid work model: Warrenville, IL and remote
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Work hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
Responsibilities:
- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnostic and CPT procedural codes, including complex scenarios
- Lead audits of medical records and coding work, ensuring accuracy and providing guidance to junior coders
- Analyze clinical documentation and collaborate with physicians and clinical staff for clarification and documentation improvement
- Stay current with coding guidelines and regulatory changes; share knowledge with the team
- Collaborate to resolve coding questions and discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and HIPAA standards
- Generate advanced coding reports and insights for improvement
- Mentor and train junior coders
- Use coding software and electronic health record systems proficiently, contributing to process improvements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Certification such as CPC, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT required
- 5+ years of coding experience, with expertise in ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, including complex scenarios
