Medical Coder III

The Medical Coder III is a senior-level position responsible for accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures in compliance with coding guidelines and regulations, ensuring financial accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Position Highlights:

  • Hybrid work model: Warrenville, IL and remote
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Responsibilities:

  • Assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnostic and CPT procedural codes, including complex scenarios
  • Lead audits of medical records and coding work, ensuring accuracy and providing guidance to junior coders
  • Analyze clinical documentation and collaborate with physicians and clinical staff for clarification and documentation improvement
  • Stay current with coding guidelines and regulatory changes; share knowledge with the team
  • Collaborate to resolve coding questions and discrepancies
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and HIPAA standards
  • Generate advanced coding reports and insights for improvement
  • Mentor and train junior coders
  • Use coding software and electronic health record systems proficiently, contributing to process improvements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Certification such as CPC, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT required
  • 5+ years of coding experience, with expertise in ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, including complex scenarios

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
  • 5+ years experience in medical coding with ICD-10-CM and CPT expertise and handling complex coding scenarios
