Under general supervision of the Coding Manager, the Outpatient Coder accurately codes data following ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS guidelines, and CMS directives. Duties include data entry of abstracted patient information into electronic medical records, querying physicians, and proficiency in Profee coding and regulations.
- Minimum age 18 years.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 3 years of Profee coding experience.
- AAPC or AHIMA certification required (CAH-BS, CCS, CPC, or CIC).
- Minimum 2 years active experience in Facility Outpatient Coding and compliant query practices.
- Knowledge of coding compliance policies, official guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures.
- Demonstrated proficiency in ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems.
- Understanding of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, statistics, and computer skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Professional appearance and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Physical ability to perform essential functions, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- English language proficiency.
- Preferred: Previous Meditech or related electronic records system experience.
