The Outpatient Medical Coder position involves reviewing clinical documentation and assigning accurate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services to ensure optimal reimbursement and compliance with regulations and payer requirements. Responsibilities include monitoring coding work queues, resolving coding edits, collaborating with providers and revenue cycle teams, maintaining up-to-date coding knowledge, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, and participating in coding education.
Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED (Associate’s or Bachelor’s preferred), certification such as CPC (preferred) or CCS (required), 3-5 years outpatient or specialty medical coding experience, strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, proficiency with EHR and coding software (e.g., 3M, EncoderPro, Epic, Cerner), attention to detail, and denials experience preferred.
The role is remote-friendly with flexible scheduling. It is a non-exempt hourly full-time position with potential additional benefits and annual performance bonuses depending on terms.
