ECLARO is recruiting an Outpatient Coder in Chicago, IL, specializing in ED coding and hospital charge-related ED coding. The role requires AHIMA certification (RHIA, RHIT, or CCS) and strong academic and regional medical center coding experience.
Responsibilities include reviewing clinical documentation to assign diagnostic and procedural codes for outpatient records using ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS, and modifiers. The coder ensures timely, accurate coding for billing, reporting, research, and regulatory compliance. Duties also include monitoring documentation turnaround time and productivity, following up on deferred accounts with clinical staff, generating analytical reports related to code utilization and reimbursement, providing coding feedback to providers and revenue cycle teams, assisting coding educators with documentation improvement, escalating issues to leadership, supporting denial teams on coding-related denials, and assisting with workflow and tool implementation. Special projects may be assigned.
Shift: Day 5x8 hours (08:00 - 16:30); Job Duration: 26 weeks.
