Cedars-Sinai, recognized nationally for excellence in medical care, seeks an experienced E/M Multi-Specialty Coder II to join their team remotely. The role involves using in-depth knowledge of medical coding guidelines, terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease pathology to accurately assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for patient services at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and affiliates. Key duties include performing timely and accurate coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, HCPCS, and modifiers; maintaining familiarity with HCFA coding regulations, Medicare rules, and multi-specialty surgical coding; attending seminars for coding updates; escalating issues to supervisors; meeting productivity and quality standards; understanding NCD, LCD, and CMS coding trends; identifying coding trends and presenting solutions; and maintaining confidentiality and adherence to policies relevant to coding and compliance departments.
- Certified Procedural Coder (CPC) certification required; Certified Evaluation and Management Coder (CEMC) a plus.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding courses from accredited program preferred.
- Minimum 3 years experience coding in a multi-specialty medical group or physician practice (e.g., Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, General Surgery, Orthopedics, OBGYN) preferred.
- Familiarity with ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 coding, payment methodologies, and knowledge of California and National reporting requirements.
