We seek experienced, credentialed outpatient coders with high attention to detail and strong knowledge of medical terminology. This fully remote role offers a flexible schedule to impact healthcare from your workspace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review medical records and accurately code diagnoses and procedures.
- Assign and sequence codes based on documentation.
- Assign appropriate discharge disposition.
- Abstract and enter coded data for hospital reporting.
- Communicate opportunities for documentation improvement and coding issues.
- Maintain at least 95% coding accuracy and meet productivity standards.
- Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
- Participate in company-sponsored education and training.
- Exercise judgment and professionalism in job duties.
- Communicate clinical and reimbursement issues with staff and management.
- Adhere to AHIMA's code of ethics.
- Exhibit customer service focus, dependability, and willingness to learn.

Qualifications:
- AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, or CRC).
- Minimum 2 years coding experience in hospital or consulting.
- Proficiency in coding specialties such as Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions, Ancillary, Emergency Department, E/M leveling.
- Strong communication, remote work skills, and time management.
- Experienced with computerized encoding and abstracting software.
- Required to pass annual HIPAA and related testing.
