Our client is seeking experienced Inpatient Coders to support high-volume, complex hospital systems. This role is responsible for accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding of inpatient encounters in accordance with official coding guidelines, regulatory requirements, and client-specific workflows. Coders must consistently meet both productivity and quality standards in large hospital environments.
Key responsibilities include assigning accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient records following official coding guidelines, UHDDS guidelines, and CMS directives; abstracting and entering coded data into client electronic medical record systems; assigning Present on Admission (POA) indicators per AHA guidelines; querying providers to clarify conflicting, incomplete, or ambiguous clinical documentation when appropriate; collaborating with Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) and Revenue Cycle teams to resolve documentation and coding issues; identifying and communicating documentation improvement opportunities; maintaining productivity standards while achieving high coding accuracy; and remaining adaptable to shifting workloads and account needs.
Active CCS (AHIMA) credential 3+ years of inpatient coding experience at a Production Level 1 standard Experience coding in large hospital environments (500+ bed facilities) Strong proficiency with ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding Ability to consistently meet productivity and quality benchmarks Ability to score 90% or higher on the required coding assessment Ability to pass a Wi-Fi speed test with minimum 30 Mbps download and upload
Preferred (not required): Epic EMR experience 3M (Solventum) encoder experience Experience supporting academic or trauma-level hospitals
