The Forensic Medical Coder is a certified coder expert in front and back end coding. Responsibilities include root cause analysis of coding opportunities, leading improvement projects, supporting coding education internally and externally, and assisting in special coding projects. This role requires maintaining compliance, providing provider education, and staying current on payer guidelines and coding standards. Travel for education and events may be required.
Experience and qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years coding experience (5 preferred)
- Expertise in physician front and back end coding across multiple specialties
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EPIC system
- Dual coding certification (CPC or CCS)
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Openness to innovation including AI integration
- High School Diploma or GED minimum education
