Pride Health

Pride Health is looking for an Outpatient Medical Coder (E/M – Neurology/Neurosurgery) to support a client’s medical facility in Houston, TX. This is a 13-week contract position with the possibility of extension and hybrid work format.

Responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and diagnostic results to accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 codes, and modifiers for billing, reporting, research, and regulatory compliance, ensuring adherence to official coding guidelines and organizational policies.

Key responsibilities include reviewing clinical documentation and assigning appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes with modifiers, performing outpatient coding including Evaluation & Management (E/M) services, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and internal policies, utilizing APC reimbursement methodologies, extracting and inputting accurate data for reporting and abstraction, communicating with providers to clarify documentation and coding queries, adhering to ethical coding standards, maintaining productivity and quality benchmarks, supporting training and mentoring of junior staff, participating in ongoing education and skill development, and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Associate degree in a medical field (preferred)

Certifications (One Required): CCS, CPC, RHIT, CMC, or CCA

  • Minimum 2 years of outpatient coding experience
  • Strong experience in E/M coding
  • Experience coding Neurology for physicians
  • Neurosurgery coding experience (preferred)
  • HCC coding experience (preferred)
  • EPIC software experience (preferred)

Key skills include knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding guidelines, strong attention to detail and accuracy, effective communication skills, ability to work with providers and clinical teams, and understanding of coding compliance and regulations.
