Profee Coder - OBGYN

The Pro Fee Coder reviews clinical documentation to assign and sequence ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for various patient types to meet hospital or physician billing requirements. They validate calculations, ensure documentation supports diagnoses and procedures, comply with regulations, and may interact with clinical staff.

Responsibilities include reviewing facility records to ensure accurate coding, abstracting clinical data, maintaining patient confidentiality per HIPAA, participating in trainings and client meetings, and maintaining knowledge of coding guidelines and government regulations. Continuing education is expected.

Candidates must pass a pre-employment skills assessment and hold an active AHIMA or AAPC credential (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC). They require at least two years of recent coding experience, knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and ICD-10/CPT/HCPCS coding sets. Proficiency with MS Office and strong interpersonal skills are needed.

Preferred qualifications include recent active production coding experience, associate degree in HIM or related field, and experience with RCX, Cerner, or Nextgen systems.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Active AHIMA credential (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA) or AAPC credential (COC, CCS-P, CPC) or related specialty credential
  • Minimum two years recent hands-on coding experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS
  • Ability to meet 95% coding quality threshold
  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills

Preferred:

  • Recent coding production environment experience
  • Associate degree in HIM or healthcare-related field
  • Experience with RCX, Cerner, Nextgen systems
