Codes diagnoses and procedures of inpatient records for reimbursement, research, and to generate statistical data.
Reviews and abstracts inpatient records information.
Collaborates with physicians, clinical documentation specialists, case managers, and other medical staff.
Meets assigned coding goals.
Skilled in clear, effective communication in written, oral, and verbal formats.
Proficient in ICD CM and CPT coding with at least 2 years experience in an acute care facility; 4 years preferred.
Training in ICD-CM Diagnosis and Procedure Coding.
Preferred experience with CPT coding.
Licensure required: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
- Minimum 2 years experience coding inpatient records in an acute care setting (4 years preferred).
