Clinics are outpatient and office-based across multiple states.
Day in the Life:
- Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes with modifiers for services provided.
- Review provider documentation to determine accurate codes within electronic medical records.
- Ensure diagnosis codes meet local and national medical necessity guidelines.
- Understand billing and coding requirements for government and private payers.
- Use coding resources and references to ensure coding accuracy.
- Utilize facility encoder and EMR effectively in office or remote settings.
- Review and resolve coding edits and denials; assist with rebilling.
- Maintain knowledge of laws, regulations, and industry guidance for compliant coding.
- Follow HIPAA regulations to uphold patient privacy.
- Complete assignments timely per internal and payer standards.
- Achieve 95% coding accuracy and productivity goals.
- Participate in weekly team calls with Director of Medical Coding Compliance.
- Report coding patterns to management.
- Maintain current knowledge of CPT-4, HCPCS II, ICD-10, and federal regulations.
- Adhere to internal competencies, behaviors, policies, and procedures.
- Interact with providers or administrators on billing and documentation issues.
- Perform other duties as requested by compliance leadership.
Schedule & Work Authorization:
- Work 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday.
- Start time between 6:30 AM and 9:00 AM EST.
- Training/onboarding fully onsite, with up to two days remote per week possible upon meeting productivity/quality standards.
Education & Licensure:
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC®) or CCS-P required.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years coding experience, with emphasis on Evaluation and Management coding.
- Preferred experience coding healthcare provider documentation for ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS.
- Strong knowledge of mental health and opioid addiction terminology preferred.
- Proficient with MS Office.
- Experience in mental health or addiction medicine is a plus.

Requirements & Qualifications
