Gulfport Behavioral Health System is a 90-bed psychiatric hospital offering child, adolescent, adult, substance abuse, and military service behavioral health programs and treatment services with inpatient and outpatient care for mental illness.
Join the Health Information Management (HIM) team as a Coder/Technician supporting the medical records department through coding, clerical, technical, and support services. Responsibilities include coding, assembling, and analyzing discharge medical records; reviewing records for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance; coding with ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines; maintaining filing and assisting with Release of Information; operating health records indexes and storage retrieval systems; and assisting other departments with retrieval and management of patient information. This is an in-house, Monday through Friday position.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Certified Coding Associate (CCA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required.
- Two years post-high school education or equivalent experience and Medical Records experience preferred.
- New graduates eligible.
- Previous experience coding ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS preferred.
- Experience in a healthcare psychiatric facility preferred.
- Must pass coding test with 85% or better.
