Clinical Coder

We are hiring an experienced Clinical Coder to join our team, specifically working with our Interventional Radiology group (experience in this specialty is strongly preferred), with cardiology coding also considered.

This is a remote position, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, with a requirement to be onsite once a month for meetings.

The Clinical Coder codes and abstracts information from inpatient and outpatient records by analysis and adherence to official coding guidelines, ensuring appropriate reimbursement, regulatory compliance, and accuracy for clinical care analysis and provider profiling.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Formal education in ICD-10-CM PCS and CPT-4 coding, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
  • Certification as Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P) through AHIMA, or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) / Certified Professional Coder-Hospital Outpatient (COC) through AAPC; if not certified, certification required within 3 years of employment
  • Experience in ICD-10-CM PCS coding and MS-DRG assignment, including student work experience
  • Experience in CPT-4 coding, including student work experience
  • Some experience with encoding software
  • Commitment to Standards of Ethical Coding by AHIMA
  • Ability to assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic and procedure codes, CPT codes, apply appropriate modifiers, and abstract required clinical and demographic data
  • Ability to participate in peer review and assist patient financial services and physician offices with coding-related issues
