As a Clinical Coding Specialist (Inpatient), you will conduct comprehensive chart reviews and validate coding of AI diagnostic models to ensure accuracy and quality.
Key responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical records for coding accuracy
- Identify improvement opportunities for coding models
- Apply coding guidelines to assign codes based on clinical documentation
- Participate in ongoing training to stay current on documentation and coding guidelines
- Contribute to process improvements in coding practices
Qualifications:
- Over 5 years of recent experience in inpatient coding and/or auditing
- Expertise in ICD-10 classification system
- Active RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS credentials
- Experience with complex medical records and coding conventions
- Familiarity with DRG and inpatient reimbursement methodologies
- Strong attention to detail and ability to detect subtle inaccuracies
- Experience with coding audits, quality assurance, or validation workflows
- Excellent written communication skills
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with AI coding tools or computer-assisted coding (CAC) systems
- Experience in auditing or coding quality assurance roles
- Familiarity with evaluation frameworks, labeling, or annotation
- Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Clinical Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) credentials
Compensation:
- $75,000 to $105,000 annually
