Clinical Coding Specialist (Inpatient)

As a Clinical Coding Specialist (Inpatient), you will conduct comprehensive chart reviews and validate coding of AI diagnostic models to ensure accuracy and quality.

Key responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze medical records for coding accuracy
  • Identify improvement opportunities for coding models
  • Apply coding guidelines to assign codes based on clinical documentation
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay current on documentation and coding guidelines
  • Contribute to process improvements in coding practices

Qualifications:

  • Over 5 years of recent experience in inpatient coding and/or auditing
  • Expertise in ICD-10 classification system
  • Active RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS credentials
  • Experience with complex medical records and coding conventions
  • Familiarity with DRG and inpatient reimbursement methodologies
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to detect subtle inaccuracies
  • Experience with coding audits, quality assurance, or validation workflows
  • Excellent written communication skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with AI coding tools or computer-assisted coding (CAC) systems
  • Experience in auditing or coding quality assurance roles
  • Familiarity with evaluation frameworks, labeling, or annotation
  • Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Clinical Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) credentials

Compensation:

  • $75,000 to $105,000 annually
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision (covering 75% premiums depending on the plan), paid parental leave up to 12 weeks, unlimited PTO and 10 holidays, 401(k) with 4% match
  • 100% US-based remote work

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years inpatient coding/auditing experience
  • Strong ICD-10 knowledge
  • Active RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS credentials
  • Experience with DRG, reimbursement methodologies
  • Detail oriented with ability to identify coding errors
  • Coding audits/QC experience
  • Strong written communication

Preferred:

  • Experience with AI coding tools/CAC
  • Auditing/quality assurance experience
  • CCDS or CDIP credentials
