The Medical Coder Certified is responsible for accurate coding, charge verification, and data abstraction necessary for billing in various professional healthcare settings. Works from the appropriate documentation in the medical record. Classification systems include ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, as well as other specialty systems as required by diagnostic category. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with established coding guidelines and regulations to guarantee proper reimbursement.
High School Diploma or GED is required.
Certification required: Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist Physician (CCS-P).
Minimum of two (2) years of practical coding experience is required. Coders are held to a high standard, with best practices aiming for greater than 95% accuracy rate during coding assessments.
Primary location: Tampa, FL (USF Faculty Office Building).
Eligible for remote work with a hybrid remote schedule.
Work schedule: Monday through Friday, day shift from 7:00am to 3:30pm.
