Inpatient Coder - Facility

The Coding Specialist III manages up to two concurrent short-term client assignments. This role involves reviewing clinical documentation to code diagnoses and procedures for inpatient hospital-based claims and data needs, including coding ICD-10-CM, PCS, professional and technical EM levels, and surgical CPT codes. Responsibilities also include validating MS-DRG and APC calculations, abstracting clinical data, mitigating coding-related claims scrubber edits, and possibly interacting with client staff and providers.

Duties include:

  • Assigning ICD-10-CM and PCS codes for inpatient visits or ICD-10 CM codes, EM levels, and surgical CPT codes for physician visits with a quality level of 95% or higher.
  • Validating MS-DRG or APC assignments as applicable.
  • Abstracting clinical data appropriately.
  • Mitigating hospital inpatient or professional/technical coding-related claims scrubber edits.
  • Managing short-term assignments with up to two clients.
  • Participating in client and Savista meetings and trainings.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of coding conventions at client assignments.
  • Performing other related duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active AHIMA or AAPC credential.
  • At least one year of relevant and productive coding experience within the last six months.
  • Passing score of 80% on specified pre-employment tests.

Note: The hourly salary range is $28.00 - $34.00, varying by location, experience, certifications, and skills.
