Medical Coding Specialist - Hospital and Ambulatory Surgery Center

MedHQ, LLC, a leading provider of consulting and technology-enabled expert services for outpatient healthcare, is seeking a qualified Medical Coding Specialist to join their team. The role involves coding facility services quickly and accurately for a wide range of inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures and diagnostic studies in hospital and ambulatory surgery center settings.

Candidates must have experience coding in a facility setting and be self-motivated, positive, and detail-oriented. Essential duties include: following NCCI edits and facility bundling requirements, implant charging and coding, independently researching and correcting coding issues to ensure proper payment, collaborating with billing to streamline accounts receivable processes, writing appeals for denial, identifying trends and proposing corrective actions, process improvement with administration, and maintaining excellent customer service to both clients and provider patients.

The position is fully remote and part of a team serving hospitals, physician groups, ambulatory surgery centers, and outpatient facilities nationwide.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Experience coding inpatient and outpatient hospital facility services is required.
  • Ability to apply NCCI edits and bundling rules.
  • Knowledge of implant charging and coding in facility settings.
  • Strong research skills to correct coding issues independently.
  • Positive attitude, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
