The Medical Coder III is a senior-level position responsible for ensuring precise coding of diagnoses and procedures in compliance with established coding guidelines and regulations. This role is integral to maintaining financial accuracy and regulatory compliance within the institution.
Position Highlights:
- Hybrid location: Skokie, IL and remote
- Full-time (40 hours per week), Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
Responsibilities:
- Assign accurate diagnostic (ICD-10-CM) and procedural (CPT) codes to medical records with advanced proficiency
- Lead and conduct internal audits, guiding junior coders
- Analyze clinical documentation and collaborate with physicians to improve accuracy
- Stay current on coding guidelines, conventions, regulations, and share knowledge
- Collaborate to resolve coding questions and discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local healthcare regulations and HIPAA standards
- Generate advanced coding reports and insights
- Mentor and train junior coders
- Use coding software and electronic health record systems proficiently
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- Certification such as CPC, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT
- 5+ years of coding experience including complex ICD-10-CM and CPT coding

- Bachelor's degree required
