Medical Records Coder III Outpatient

BayCare is currently in search of a passionate team member dedicated to outstanding community service. This is a full-time remote position for residents of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, or South Carolina.

The Medical Records Outpatient Coder III is responsible for reviewing short-stay focused encounters to accurately assign diagnosis and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding systems. The role includes collaborating with departments to resolve missing documentation, monitoring bill hold reports, and utilizing strong medical terminology and anatomy knowledge. The coder will assist management in mentoring and training junior coders and clinical practice students.

Required coding experience includes emergency room (ED), same-day surgery (ambulatory), and observation cases.

Certifications required: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS); preferred: RHIT (Health Information).

Experience required: 5 years of outpatient facility coding with strong CPT coding skills.
