Adjunct Faculty - Health Information/Medical Coding Online

Indiana Tech is accepting applications for Adjunct Faculty to teach courses supporting the Medical Coding Certificate in its CAHIIM-accredited Health Information Technology/Management programs. Teaching is conducted in an online classroom environment via Canvas Learning Management System.

Candidates will teach courses according to course and learning objectives established by the college and outlined in the teaching agreement.

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution and possess coding certifications such as RHIA, RHIT, CCA, CCS, CPC, or equivalent. Experience teaching online college courses and working with diverse student populations is preferred.

Preferred qualifications include college-level teaching experience, teaching health information, experience teaching CPT, ICD-10-CM, and ICD-10-PCS coding, and a minimum of 3 years of practical work experience as a Medical Coder or Health Information professional.

Applicants should demonstrate the ability to mentor and advise students for academic and career success and use technology effectively in their teaching roles.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or related field from a regionally accredited institution
  • Certification in RHIA, RHIT, CCA, CCS, CPC, or other coding certification
  • Ability to develop effective mentor-mentee relationships supporting academic and career success
  • Ability to work with diverse student populations
  • Experience teaching online college courses preferred
  • College-level teaching experience preferred
  • Experience teaching health information preferred
  • Previous experience teaching CPT, ICD-10-CM, and ICD-10-PCS preferred
  • 3+ years practical work experience as a Medical Coder or Health Information professional preferred
  • Skills in using educational technology effectively
