Lake Butler Hospital, a critical access hospital in North Florida, is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Health Information Management (HIM) Medical Coder to join the team. This full-time position requires initial on-site work with the possibility of remote work after demonstrating proficiency in facility-specific requirements.
Responsibilities include assigning accurate CPT codes from medical records for billing purposes, ensuring proper documentation for charge capture, and staying current with industry guidelines. The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in ICD-10-CM and have a strong understanding of CPT guidelines for separate procedures, bundling, and add-on codes. Coding denial review, resolution, and prevention are also key responsibilities.
Applicants must have inpatient and outpatient hospital experience as well as experience in rural health clinics.

- High school graduate or equivalent
- Current certification in ICD-9/CPT-4 coding and ICD-10-CM/PCS
- At least 2 years of progressive inpatient and outpatient medical coding experience
- Experience in Rural Health Clinics
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with strong computer skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Working knowledge of Health Information Management
- Thorough knowledge of ICD-9/CPT-4 and ICD-10-CM/PCS coding sets
- Ability to operate office equipment such as fax, copier, and computer
