Our client is seeking experienced Inpatient Coders to join a major ramp-up supporting a transition to Epic (Epic Go-Live). This contract-to-hire role involves insourcing Revenue Cycle Management teams and requires detail-oriented professionals focusing on quality assurance and coding complex cases in high-acuity medical settings.
Responsibilities include reviewing and accurately coding inpatient medical records using ICD-10-CM/PCS and other coding systems; ensuring ~95% coding accuracy; meeting productivity targets (2.0–2.5 charts/hr); applying specialty-specific coding in areas such as Cardiovascular, NICU, Interventional Radiology, Orthopedics, Neurology, and OB/Mother-Baby; utilizing Epic EHR and legacy systems like Meditech; participating in QA audits and feedback; attending meetings and collaborating with team members; maintaining HIPAA compliance; and engaging in ongoing professional development.
- CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) certification required
- Additional AHIMA/AAPC certifications (e.g., CIC, CCS-P, CVIP) are a plus
- Minimum 4 years inpatient coding experience (5+ years preferred), Coder III level preferred
- Experience in academic/teaching hospitals or trauma/high-acuity centers preferred
- Proven ability to code complex cases especially in designated specialties
- Ability to meet productivity and quality assurance targets
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
- Commitment to continuous learning and certification maintenance
