As a Certified Professional Coder with pathology experience, you will review and abstract medical records to assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for pathology services, apply CPT coding guidelines including separate procedures, bundling, and add-on codes, ensure compliance with CMS regulations such as NCCI Edits, MIPS, and LCD/NCD policies, communicate with providers to clarify documentation or coding discrepancies, and stay updated on industry and payer coding policies.
Candidates should have a Certified Professional Coder credential (CPC, CCS-P or equivalent), proficiency in ICD-10-CM and CPT coding for pathology, strong knowledge of CMS initiatives, experience with NCCI Edits and MIPS reporting, preferably 2+ years pathology coding experience, and hospital-based coding experience is a plus. Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines is required.
