Loyal Source is seeking a Hybrid Inpatient Coder for the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. This role involves accurate medical coding and documentation for inpatient cases, applying facility and professional coding standards including ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes. Responsibilities include assigning medical codes for inpatient discharges and surgical procedures, resolving documentation inconsistencies, educating providers on documentation support, collaborating with coding auditors, and maintaining Defense Health Agency coding accuracy standards.
The schedule is Monday through Friday, eight-hour shifts between 6:30 AM and 4:30 PM, with a 30-minute meal break. Initial 30 days on-site training, with potential teleworking up to four days per week upon approval after training.
Candidates will receive pay at $32.46 per hour plus $4.93 per hour for health and welfare, which may be used toward elected benefits or paid as income if benefits are not elected.

Education: Associate's degree or higher in Health Information Management or related field, or university certificate in medical coding, or relevant college coursework (anatomy/physiology, medical terminology, health information management, pharmacology), or completion of AAPC/AHIMA coding certification preparation course, or military medical training.
Certifications required: Professional coding certification such as CPC, RHIT, RHIA, or CCS-P; Institutional coding certification such as CIC, RHIT, RHIA, or CCS.
Experience: Inpatient coding experience required. Preference for candidates with E&M coding certification (CEMC or CEMA).
Skills: Medical ethics, communication, and customer service skills.
