You will accurately translate medical documentation into standardized ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG codes used for billing, reimbursement, and statistical purposes, ensuring compliance and supporting revenue cycle efficiency.
Key duties include reviewing outpatient medical records such as clinical notes, diagnostic reports, and treatment documentation; assigning appropriate codes; using Pro-Fees billing; collaborating with billing teams to resolve discrepancies; maintaining detailed coding records in EMR/EHR systems; conducting audits for accuracy and compliance; and staying current with medical coding standards and healthcare regulations. Confidentiality of patient information is paramount.
Strong knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, DRG classifications, medical terminology, anatomy relevant to outpatient care, and experience with EMR and EHR systems required. Effective communication skills for collaboration with healthcare providers and billing teams are necessary.
