PPS - QRP Coder (PTA/COTA)

Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital is a not-for-profit, nationally accredited rehabilitation hospital specializing in inpatient, outpatient, sub-acute rehabilitation, orthotics and prosthetics, and home and community programs.

The QRP Coder is responsible for accurately obtaining Quality Reporting Program (QRP) scores for adult and pediatric inpatient admissions and discharges, coding these scores in the electronic health record for IRF-PAI use.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collect QRP scores from patients, families, caregivers, and inpatient rehabilitation facility records.
• Collaborate with nursing staff during admission assessments to identify and capture correct QRP codes.
• Interview all inpatients at admission to capture Brief Interview of Mental Status (BIMS) scores and document per CMS standards.
• Enter QRP Admission codes before therapy evaluations and QRP Discharge codes prior to discharge.
• Serve as a resource for QRP coding requirements and assist with staff education.
• Collect and enter WeeFIM scores for pediatric patients.
• Assist with PPS program duties under supervision.
• Foster a professional work environment encouraging accountability, collaboration, and mutual respect.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma.
• Licensed clinician or graduate of an accredited Therapy Assistant Program (PTA or COTA).
• Minimum two years clinical experience in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
• Organized, adaptable, with a sense of urgency and commitment to the hospital's mission.

• Physical demands include frequent movement around the work location and occasional lifting (up to 75 pounds with assistance).
• Compensation starts from $20.94 per hour, varying by experience.
