MedHQ, LLC is a leading provider of consulting and technology-enabled expert services for outpatient healthcare, serving Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs), surgical hospitals, physician practices, and outpatient healthcare facilities nationwide.
The Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Cardiology Coder is responsible for accurately reviewing, interpreting, and coding outpatient cardiology and cardiovascular procedures performed in an ASC setting. Key duties include assigning CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for outpatient cardiology procedures, validating code selection against documentation, applying modifiers correctly for ASC billing, ensuring compliance with CMS guidelines and payer policies, identifying documentation gaps and querying physicians, participating in coding audits to maintain accuracy, collaborating with clinical and administrative staff to resolve coding issues, providing documentation improvement education, and supporting billing inquiries and appeals.
This role requires ongoing professional development to stay current with coding guidelines and ASC regulations. The position is full-time and remote.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred.
- Certification required: CPC, COC, or CCS-P.
- Specialty cardiology coding certification preferred (e.g., CCC, CIRCC).
- Minimum 2-3 years of outpatient coding experience, including 1 year focused on cardiology or cardiovascular procedures.
- Familiarity with ASC billing rules and payer guidelines.
- Proficient in CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS codes and experienced with EMR/EHR and coding software.
- Strong communication skills for physician interaction and documentation clarification.
