This role involves CPT and ICD-10 coding to ensure accuracy for maximum reimbursement and minimal denials.

Work location is hybrid: 3 days in office (Metairie, LA / New Orleans, LA) and 2 days remote.

Responsibilities include accurate assignment and sequencing of ICD-10 and CPT codes, contacting clients for clarification on documentation, monitoring changes in coding regulations, resolving coding related system edits, rejections, and denials, identifying trends for policy improvements, and keeping knowledge up to date through continuing education.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, 1-3 years of medical coding/auditing or customer service experience, and preferably a nationally recognized coding credential (CPC, COC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT). Experience in outpatient physician or multi-specialty coding and understanding of CPT, HCPCS, CDT, ICD-10, and medical terminology are essential. Strong communication and organizational skills are also required.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years experience in medical coding, auditing, and/or customer service
  • Nationally recognized coding credential preferred (CPC, COC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT)
  • Experience in outpatient physician and/or multi-specialty coding
  • Understanding of CPT, HCPCS, CDT, ICD-10, and medical terminology
  • Knowledge of medical business and revenue cycle operations
  • Proficiency with Office Applications (Word, Excel, Email)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload efficiently
