Coder/Charge Poster

Radiation Oncology Associates

We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Coder/Charge Poster to join our team with Radiation Oncology Associates, an independent, physician-owned private practice providing radiation for cancer patients since 1986.

In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately assigning medical codes and posting charges to ensure seamless billing processes. Expertise in medical coding, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), HCPCS (CMS procedure codes), and ICD-10 coding systems will directly impact revenue cycle management efficiency.

Duties include:

  • Reviewing and analyzing medical documentation to assign appropriate ICD-10 diagnosis codes, CPT, and HCPCS procedure codes.
  • Ensuring all charges are accurately posted in Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Medical Record systems promptly.
  • Verifying coding accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Collaborating with billing and collections teams to resolve coding and billing discrepancies.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge on coding guidelines, insurance requirements, and healthcare regulations.
  • Assisting in auditing medical records for accuracy and compliance.
  • Supporting transition to new EMR/EHR systems with data entry and troubleshooting.
  • Correcting coding errors presented by the Accounts Receivable team as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Proven medical coding experience with proficiency in HCPCS, CPT, ICD-10, and medical billing processes.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology for accurate coding.
  • Familiarity with medical office operations and EMR/EHR systems.
  • Knowledge of medical collection procedures and healthcare reimbursement.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding and data entry.
  • Ability to efficiently interpret complex medical records.
  • Preferred: Medical Coding Certification (e.g., CPC, CCS) and knowledge of radiation oncology coding.
