At Conservative Care Occupational Health (CCOH), we provide comprehensive occupational medicine and urgent-care services focused on employee health and safety. The Medical Coder Specialist supports accurate, timely, and efficient billing operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Assigning accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to injuries and treatments based on medical records
- Auditing medical charts for billing accuracy and compliance with Workers' Compensation fee schedules and state laws
- Acting as a subject matter expert answering inquiries from medical providers and Third-Party Administrators
- Managing denials by following up on unpaid or denied claims
- Reconciling billing reports and assisting with month-end statements
- Communicating with clinics, providers, employers, and third parties regarding billing inquiries
- Identifying denial trends and escalating concerns
- Maintaining patient confidentiality according to HIPAA
- Supporting billing team with special projects and process improvements
The role is full-time with clinic hours Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with no weekend or holiday shifts.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to NW Arkansas (position is not remote)
- AHIMA (CCS, CCS-P) or AAPC (CPC) certifications required
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and CPT coding
- Knowledge of state-specific fee schedules and medical billing regulations
- Understanding insurance processes, EOBs, denials, and claims follow-up
- Accurate data entry and strong attention to detail
- Proficiency with billing systems, practice management software, and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication skills and professional demeanor
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Preferred: experience in workers' compensation, occupational medicine, or personal injury; familiarity with ICD-10, CPT coding, and medical terminology; experience with SYSTOC or occupational health EMRs; collections/accounts receivable experience; bilingual English/Spanish
