Medical Clinical Coder

Arizona Center for Hand to Shoulder Surgery

Accounts for coding and abstracting of patient encounters, including diagnostic and procedural information, significant reportable elements, and complications. Researches and analyzes data needs for reimbursement. Analyzes medical records and identifies documentation deficiencies.

ICD-10-CM and CPT coding knowledge required. Responsible for researching all information to verify correct assignment of ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT codes. Ensures timely and accurate billing of clinic and hospital charges.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. Effective time management skills to ensure accurate billing. Compliance with current insurance coding and billing guidelines necessary. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks, delegating when appropriate. Ability to function well in a fast-paced and occasionally stressful environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office or related software.

High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 2 years' experience with ICD-10 and EMR/EHR systems. CPC certification required.

Work location is in person; relocation to Phoenix, AZ 85004 required before starting work.
