Senior Manager of Medical Coding & Reimbursement

The Senior Manager of Medical Coding and Reimbursement is responsible for managing and directing daily functions of coding and reimbursement teams, including Analysts, Leads, and Specialists. Duties include ensuring prompt and accurate charge capture, coding, charge entry; overseeing payor billing audits; interpreting and applying internal and external policies; developing and implementing procedures; establishing and monitoring quality control; providing continuing education on coding, documentation, denial patterns; maintaining up-to-date coding information; investigating coding impact on reimbursement; and designing workflows for compliant billing and optimal revenue.

Preferred qualifications include: high school diploma or equivalent; minimum two years coding/reimbursement activities and supervisory experience; knowledge of third party fee profiles and reimbursement mechanisms; completion of medical record terminology course; certification as Certified Professional Coder or equivalent; excellent judgment, communication, interpersonal skills; skills in planning, implementing, controlling, evaluating; flexibility in problem solving and program development; college degree and experience directing multi-specialty coding functions beneficial; ability to present to large groups and create educational coding materials effectively.

Physical requirements: ability to move, position self, remain stationary, negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; visual and auditory acuity; manual dexterity and motor coordination; travel between facilities; must provide own transportation.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of third party fee profiles and reimbursement mechanisms
  • Completion of medical record terminology course
  • Certification as Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent
  • Excellent judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Planning, implementing, controlling, and evaluation skills
  • Flexibility in problem solving and developing programs
  • Preferred: college degree
  • Experience directing multi-specialty coding functions for a large group practice
  • Ability to present to large groups and create educational coding materials
