The Surgery Coder at OrthoIndy South is responsible for reviewing surgical medical records documentation, including CPT codes, ICD-10 diagnosis codes, and appropriate modifiers to ensure accuracy supporting billing. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Responsibilities include:

Review medical record documentation for billing accuracy
Post surgery charges
Run daily transaction posting reports and balance accounts
Communicate with physicians when surgery queries are needed
Inform managers of any compliance issues

Requirements & Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required; specialty training beyond high school preferred
1-2 years of related experience required; 2-4 years preferred
Must hold one of the following certifications: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist Physician-based (CCS-P), or Certified Orthopaedic Surgery Coder (COSC)
